During the first seven
months of 2026, 84,780 companies were incorporated in Spain, up
10% on the same months last year, according to INFORMA's Business
Demography Study . July’s 11,776 business creations were 8% higher than in the same
month of 2025 and rose 2% compared with June, making it the fourth most active month
of the year.
Capital investment to launch these companies totalled 470 million euros in July, down 11% year over year, reaching nearly 4.0 billion euros cumulatively, up 13% on 2025. The three companies incorporated in July with the highest investment were Euromaster Inversiones SL (20 million euros), Vértice Participaciones SL (16 million euros), both based in Málaga, and Acciona Construcción Oceanía SL (14 million euros) based in Madrid.
Nathalie Gianese, Director of Research at Informa D&B, states: “The 84,780 incorporations recorded year to date represent an increase of 10% compared with 2025, with July ranking as the fourth month with the most business creations this year”.
The companies incorporated in July involved the appointment of 13,767 administrators, highlighting the presence of relatively small governing bodies in Spain (with the sole administrator regime the most common). Women hold 23% of these positions.
In the High Technology sectors, 231 companies were created in July, down 3% year over year, with invested capital amounting to 24 million euros, up 375% on July 2025. Cumulatively, incorporations in high-technology activities reached 1,627, up 7%, accounting for 2% of the national total, while investment rose to 47 million euros, an increase of 158%.
Since January, Madrid has led the number of new companies created, with 18,487 registrations, 22% of the total. It is followed by Catalonia, with 16,601, and Andalusia, with 13,886. The largest absolute increases were recorded in the Valencian Community, up 1,760, Catalonia, up 1,635, and Madrid, up 1,207. By contrast, figures fell only in Ceuta (-11) and Melilla (-16).
In July, Madrid also topped the ranking with 2,684 incorporations, 23% of the total, followed by Catalonia, with 2,313, accounting for 20%, and Andalusia, with 1,808, 15%. The main month-on-month increases were recorded in the Valencian Community, up 323, Madrid, up 211, and the Canary Islands, up 152, while the largest declines were seen in Catalonia (-82) and Andalusia (-31).
As for the investment allocated to creating these companies, Madrid accounts for 26% of cumulative invested capital, exceeding 1.0 billion euros, ahead of Catalonia, 742 million, and Andalusia, 587 million. The most significant absolute increase since January was in Madrid, up 422 million euros. In July, Madrid again ranked first by volume, with 121 million euros paid up.
The new companies created since January are mainly in Construction and Real Estate Activities, 21,791, Business Services, 12,938, and Trade, 12,084, which together account for 55% of the total. The largest absolute growth was in the first of these, adding 2,007 incorporations, followed by Financial Intermediation, up 1,514. Conversely, Energy is the only sector to record a cumulative decline, down 138.
In July, Construction and Real Estate Activities was also the sector with the most incorporations, 3,079, up 3%. It was followed by Trade, with 1,709, and Business Services, with 1,695, improving their figures by 5% and 10.5% respectively.
By cumulative investment volume, Financial Intermediation reached €1.745 billion, 44% of the total, ahead of Construction and Real Estate Activities, with €1.048 billion. Cumulatively, Financial Intermediation led growth in invested capital, up 661 million euros, while Healthcare recorded the largest decline, down 413 million compared with the same period last year. In July, Financial Intermediation again ranked as the sector with the highest investment, at just over 185 million euros.
